My favourite moments of 2015

December 30, 2015

With only one day left in 2015, I’ve done a bit of reflecting today. 2015 was an exciting year for me, full of lovely memories, travel, hard work, adventures and change. These are some of my very favourite moments of 2015:

1. I started 2015 in Mexico with my family and continued cheering “Happy New Year” to many happy faces early morning at the airport, through LA in the afternoon and all the way back home in Brisbane, Australia two days after.

2. Spent Australia Day with friends making a BBQ on a boat at Noosaville (Sunshine Coast), in my opinion it doesn’t get better than this.

3. I took an spontaneous trip to Guadalajara in the springtime. I traveled 14,000 km and spent 16 hours flying each way to spend 6 days in my hometown!

4. During the first half of the year, I designed visual interfaces for awesome web-based products and produced wireframes and information architecture to launch Mandalay Technologies’ newest websites.

5. I continued my consistent habit of reading one book per month. My favorites were: Provence 1970, Remote, Good to Great, Lean UX and We are all completely beside ourselves.

6. I traveled to Mexico and spent five months of unstructured time to bond with family and friends, rest, enjoy the beautiful weather and allow some creative time in my life. It’s the first time I’ve done this in more than a decade and loved every minute of it! 🙂

7. I took a quick trip northside to visit my sister and her family at La Paz; we visited Cabo, Los Cerritos, and Tecolote. We ate too much and I had too much fun with my youngest nephew.

8. Spent a weekend away at Nuevo Vallarta with my sisters. It started a bit wet and stormy the first night, but it turned into sunshine-and-smiles only from the next morning on.

9. Returned to Australia just in time for Summer!

10. Early this month, I got exciting news and became the new UI/Visual Designer at ‘For The Record’, a global leader in digital recording with a strong focus on customer-centered solutions. The team is great and I can’t wait to see how the projects on the roadmap unfold!

I am so thankful for 2015, it was a life-changing year and I have a feeling 2016 will be just as amazing. These are a few things I look forward to:

  • My fourth year living in Australia
  • Starting the year with an exciting job in the city
  • Getting my driver’s license in QLD – hopefully this year finally happens!
  •  Make a special trip with my best friends to celebrate our birthdays
  • Obtain my Australian Citizenship at the end of the year!!!

I wish you have a wonderful new year full of joy, love and inspiration. Happy 2016 everyone!
